Join us on March 2nd and 3rd as The Airbrush Institute brings two classes to Embellish FX! Learn airbrushing basics and advanced basic techniques from airbrush pro's Maryellen Vettori and Bob Keeling, authors of Airbrushing 101 and Airbrushing 102.
Meet The Instructors
Maryellen Vettori and Bob Keeling are airbrush artists that have fused their talents for teaching to create two textbooks, Airbrushing 101 and Airbrushing 102. They recalled the first-time they touched an airbrush and the wonder of how a complicated instrument could transform a blank surface into beautiful artwork. With a simple tug on the trigger, paint magically appears and without any tactile response, the chaos of the escaping paint can feel like a violent eruption. Taming the chaos is easily handled with the correct education. The thought that airbrush control can be mastered by anyone who is correctly shown how is where The Airbrush Institute was born.
Maryellen is proud to be a product of the Airbrush Action Magazine’s “Airbrush Getaway” program and worked her way from student to instructor. Fusing her powers of observation with natural talents, she is able to master commissioned pieces as well as forge her own artistic vision.
Bob is a skilled artist and the Advertising and Graphic Design Program Coordinator and Instructor at Southwestern Community College in western North Carolina, and has been for over 20 years. He has successfully brought airbrushing into the curriculum.

Airbrushing For Beginners | March 2, 2024 | 9am to 1pm
Class Fee: $175 Non-Refundable

All airbrush equipment and supplies will be provided for students to use during the class.
Enter the exciting world of airbrushing and get a quick start with The Airbrush Institute at EFX! During this class, we will demystify the airbrush and help bring success and satisfaction to your airbrushing journey. This half day class will cover all of the basic skills like dots, lines, dagger strokes, and shading, which will elevate your muscle memory...the key to successful airbrushing. What to expect:
- Fun and challenging exercises of everything an airbrush can do (dots, lines, dagger strokes, shading)
- Learn the types of airbrushes, how they work, and which type is best suited for you and your airbrushing journey
- Understand safety and equipment including: airbrush, compressors, safe air pressure, adaptors, and proper ventilation
- Learn to properly hold, clean, and troubleshoot your airbrush
- Understand the types of paint used in airbrushing and how to use them
- Opportunity for each student to purchase airbrushes and supplies at a deep discount the day of the class

Continue your airbrushing journey with this 6 hour advanced basics course. Students should understand and have a firm grasp of all subjects in the Airbrushing for Beginners class. Learn new techniques and tricks of the trade in this course to elevate your airbrushing to a new level. What to expect:
- Review of basic skills taught in Airbrushing For Beginners
- Exercises and projects to expand and lend mastery to muscle memory and trigger control
- Learn transfer methods
- Understand types of substrates and surface preparation
